Here's a mainframe desk accessory that has something for programmers and end users alike. At the press of a key, Side-CICS provides a pop-up menu with a wide variety of functions. You determine which features you'd like each user to have. There can be different levels of users, with access to different features.

Screen prints in an instant

Side-CICS lets you print any screen, with top-of-form, on any CICS printer. And you can print all pages of a BMS page in one step, making it ideal for COPICS users. A secondary hot key may be specified, which will automatically invoke the screen print function without presenting the Side-CICS menu.

Calendars and scheduling

In addition to a built in calendar display, Side-CICS includes a day by day personal appointment calendar. You can also save valuable time by scheduling appointments in other people's calendars, by individual or an entire group.

Built in decimal and hexadecimal calculator

Now you can access a calculator, right in the middle of a transaction or debugging session. This allows you to pull data from your screen into the calculator for computations. For hexadecimal numbers, you can even update the screen. This is especially helpful when running under a debugging tool like CEDF.

Take notes on your terminal

Side-CICS provides a personal scratch pad for holding notes, phone numbers, or reminders. You can jot down a memo without disrupting what you originally had on your screen. You can recall the memo later, at a more convenient time.

Get the message -- fast

Now you can send messages to a specific terminal, individual or group, without disrupting the user. The screen is captured, the message is displayed, and the screen and transaction are restored when they are ready. You can also send a copy of your current screen to another user for review, and you can send messages to TSO users and the console operator (under password protection).

A phone list at your fingertips

Press a button and personal, departmental, and system-wide phone lists appear on your screen. You'll never hunt for phone numbers.

See time zones and area codes in no time

What time is it in London, when it's 9:15 a.m. in New York? Side-CICS knows. Not only does it display the correct time for cities around the country or globe, but also the area codes and times for the places you call most.

Go from upper to lower case

With Side-CICS you can switch from upper to lower case, or vice versa, right in the middle of a transaction. Two keystrokes is all it takes to go from one mode to the other.

Know the status of any terminal

The terminal status screen displays the VTAM net name, product release, CICS release, terminal ID, access method, designated printer, and other key information for your CICS session. Side-CICS also includes a terminal table scan feature that shows which terminals are currently in CICS, who is logged on to them, what transaction they are in, and the I/O count on the terminal. In addition, the terminal view feature lets programmers display on their terminal what is currently on any of the 3270 terminals in the CICS region. Your installation will have complete control over which terminals can be viewed and by whom. It's a great way to handle problems for remote users.

Gain instant access to CEDF

Now you can go directly to the situation you want to test, and instantly invoke CEDF. The time savings is incredible, because it's no longer necessary to walk through the entire transaction under CEDF.

Pop up access to CICS utilities

Side-CICS allows authorized persons to invoke CEMT, CEDA, CEBR, and CECI at any time, without quitting their current transaction. ICCF users can also access these utilities, without leaving ICCF. This enables them to quickly respond to problems.

Determine the exact field attributes of 3270 screens

Only Side-CICS gives you a complete field analyzer that displays the field attributes in Hex, Character, Binary, and English. It also indicates the length and address of the field.

Access Electronic Mail and ABend-Catcher

Side-CICS lets you obtain full access to CASI's Electronic Mail System, without interrupting your current transaction. You can also access ABend-Catcher, a unique, automatic tool for CICS shops that rescues the end user and captures the screen at the time an abend occurs.
